Father's Day
So how did you spend Father's Day? I spent mine sleeping in, then doing laundry, dishes, and dog clean-up before driving to my parents (sans dogs) to spend the afternoon at the antique tractor pull behind our house (not sponsored by us - we just happen to be situated close by). This is my grandfather starting out in his third tractor for pulling the sled this afternoon. My grandfather, father, and brother all pulled the same three tractors today. They didn't care about if they won their division, only if they beat each other's marks. LOL My grandfather won the first pull, and my father won the following two pulls. They were out there goading each other on - my father even standing at the spot where he had to stop and pointing to it while my grandfather was trying to get a few more feet out of his pull before having to stop. He didn't quite make Dad's mark, but fell short by four inches. Dad did a victory dance.

Shortly after the guys finished their pulls, we headed home for some BBQ (and cool shade of the indoors). We've had a recent string of beautiful, hot days without very little humidity. I know it won't last, but it sure has been nice! I knew I'd be out in the sun today so I took a hat and put on sunscreen, hoping to avoid a burn. I was mostly successful. I must have missed a portion of my shoulder because it's feeling a little hot & sore - definite burn. I had to laugh though. I did manage to make all of my freckles darker. They are a somewhat recent development. They didn't start showing until a few years ago, and is a legacy from my great-grandmother. Every time I see them I smile and remember her. The back of my neck and upper back also feels hot, so I must have burned through my shirt. *sigh* I'll definitely be wearing comfortable clothes and no necklaces this week! I'd better put some salve on it while I'm thinking about it.

We drove by around six in the evening or so and it looked like it was wrapping up so we drove on home. There were lots of tractors on trailors pulling out from the track behind your parent's house. Sounds like you had a good father's day. You'll have to read my blog later on today to find out mine... or a month from now when you finally get caught up.
