What else...

So what else has been going on? Too much. I'm going to apologize right now, but I have not read most of my blogger friends' blogs for over a month. Sorry! I just haven't had the time much less get things posted on my own blog. In fact, right now I'm procrastinating reading some hellish macroeconomics in favor of this update.

Work has been busy as we prepare for retirements, changes in processes, further training of existing processes and annoying employees. (I have a great U.O. story to share later.) I've managed to keep my upbeat humor through most of it but I was about to take out the U.O. on Friday with the support of the rest of the office...but I'll get to that shortly.

Personal work has been crazy as I'm taking two college classes, trying to renovate my house, clean up the previous messes from renovations, get organized, and prepare to have some work done on the cable lines (I'm canceling my satellite and home phone in favor of cable tv and a cable modem.) This may sound like a simple thing but there are a few critical areas that I need to clean up before the tech arrives to install everything. First and foremost I have to figure out where things are going to go. Second and also very important, I need to clean up the inner stairwell so the tech can access the basement. LOL It's been on my medium priority list but has since been moved to the high priority. My kitchen is still a mess as I try to fit in some painting. If I could just get my shelving done (painting), I could get dishes up off the counters and my coffee pot/cappaccino machine pulled out of the storage boxes! Normally I'd save most of this work for the weekends but for the past two months I've been gone every weekend to family events or other obligations. So....this coming weekend I've scheduled myself to stay home and turned down all invitations for outings (I did receive a few).

Yes, life is busy and I'm starting to feel the effects. Last night I fell asleep on the living room floor, which has become a frequent occurrence despite the fact that the floor is hardwood. When I lay down, it's with the intention of taking a 15-30 minute power nap. Unfortunately last night it turned into an all-night nap. As I said, it's happening with increasing frequency so I'm obviously not getting enough sleep. Yet another thing to work on. Last night's sleep was pretty restless as I dreamed of twisters all night long. I once looked up twisters in a dream dictionary. It's supposed to indicate that you feel your life is out of control. Hmmm...you think? LOL Right now it's 11:00 pm and I just want to crawl into bed, but I have two more chapters of macroeconomics that have to be read by tomorrow night for my exam. I"ll probably still go to bed and just be up at 5:00 as usual. I can skim the rest of the chapters and get enough out of them to do well on teh exam. I hate doing that but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Let's see...what else. Oh yes, my coffee addiction is starting to taper off. With the summer season I can barely tolerate to drink anything hot, so when I do buy coffee, it's usually an iced coffee. I"m trying to reduce my intake of soda (even diet soda) and as a consequence my intake of home brewed iced tea has skyrocketed. There's something about a nice tall glass of iced tea that just satisfies all of the taste buds. Yummy!

That's it for now. Even if there were more, I'm too tired to continue. To bed I go...

If you are thinking of going with Mediacon (mispelling intentional), think again. When I had them, there were constant outtages, sometimes for two weeks at a time and good luck getting a refund for missed time. Everytime you needed a technician to come out, it was quite often, you had to wait for an appointment for two to three weeks and then you had to be available on a weekday anywhere from 8 to 12 or 1 to 5. I finally had it up to here (putting my hand above head level) and called them to cancel my service. They asked the reason and I told them it was because of lack of service and what little service I got was extrememly poor. (Manager had to come out twice to repair the service technician's work.) The operator wrote this into her computer and then asked if I wanted to upgrade to premium service. Geesh! Since then I have got to high speed internet over the phone with telecom which has been extremely reliable and after six months, I still haven't found out about their service department which is excellent. Plus I like the fact that I can put the internet wherever there is a phone jack while the cable jacks are limited.
