Now introducing...

Introducing Johnny Cash, singing "Ring of Fire". Okay, it's really me, but I can nearly hit those baritone notes. I have been fighting a virus for several weeks, seeing signs that never got worse...until it hit me one day and I knew I was a goner. Within two days I could barely speak without sounding something like Johnny Cash and a lifetime smoker. It made answering my phone at work difficult but I survived and even made it through Thursday before the fever hit. So, I stayed home Friday to watch movies and bond with the couch. Unfortunately my DVD player kicked the bucket since the last time I had rented DVD's so Friday, when I went to get more OTC drugs for my cold symptoms, I ended up buying a new DVD player. Figures. When it rains it pours, right? The movies were good and the drugs even better. It annoyed me that they no longer carried the Sudafed I preffered but, with the new legislation tracking pseudoephredine purchases, the pharmacy said they could no longer offer the same variety as they did previously. I found another product that was almost the same as my preferred one and got out of there. I made only one other stop - the grocery store - to buy some soup. (I've had a lot of soup cravings lately - maybe another sign?) The rest of this weekend has been spent in front of the television and a little bit in front of the computer. Fortunately this looks to be a short virus because I'm feeling much better and am even talking in my normal voice most of the time.

I'm not yet ready to give up the drugs though. LOL

My DVD player is progressively getting sicker. It is a five disc carosel but lost its ability to stay out when you press eject. So I have to practice the rapid insert or snatch and grab method to change the discs. Sometimes, I have to repeatidly hit the eject button for five minutes on end just for the disc I want to briefly come into sight. Maybe I need to break down and get a DVD player too.

Get well soon.
