A soup supper and good times...

My grandmother decided to have Thanksgiving this year. The past few years she had opted not to have it because she was tired of cooking for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. But this year's feast was a little different, much to the disappointment of my sister, but still quite yummy. This year we had a soup supper - chili, potato, and oyster (yuck) - along with the traditional pumpkin and chocolate pies. A good time was had by all. Miraculously my brother was the first to arrive! He's never the first. Of course, I gave him the appropriate hard time about that. All the cousins were here, most with their significant others and/or spouses. Thus far we only have two little ones to run after at family events, but I foresee that changing in the near future. One of my cousins is recently married and it's only a matter of time before she and her husband add to the "patter of little feet" in the house....

It's always a good time visiting my grandparents' house. You walk in and instantly feel like you're home. It's a warm and secure place to be and is one of my favorite places. I spent a lot of time here as a child, pounding on the pianol, making mud pies in the water hole in front of the house, playing at the city park across the highway... There are a lot of memories here and I cherish all of them.

Oh yeah, I visited my sister at her new apartment earlier today. I had found some Christmas decorations that I knew she just had to have - black fuzzy garland and hot pink bulbs. LOL What a color combination, but it works... She's settling in nicely into her first apartment.

It'll be interesting to see what my parents' house looks like tonight after dark. Every year they add to the Christmas decorations for the house, teasing me that I'll soon be blogging about their "excessive ornamentation". As long as there are no blow-up yard decorations, I'll probably be able to resist. LOL.

I have heard the latest rage is a four foot diameter blow up globe that you attach to your roof and it has a snowman inside with snow falling all the time. I haven't seen one of those yet but if I were in touch with my criminal side, I think I would carry a pellet gun along with me.

Glad to hear you are alive and just overworked. It could be worse, you could be underworked.

Miss seeing my comments appear on your blog along with everyone elses. Does that make me an egotist?

I am hoping to break the big (baby) news to my folks over Thanksgiving so come Monday, you will be able to loose your tongue with my secret should you wish.

Soup for Thanksgiving? Actually that sounds pretty good. You probably wouldn't suffer from the sleeping induced coma that turkey causes unless of course you also had turkey soup.
