'Roof of world' melting away - May 2, 2006
Average temps in Tibet have risen 2 degrees Fahrenheit over the past 2 decades, resulting in increased melting of China's glaciers... They're saying this warming trend could eventually result in drought, desertification and increased sandstorms. What I would like to know, and what the article doesn't explain, is how melting ice, i.e. water, could result in drought & deserts.
I don't doubt that the melting is an effect of global warming, as the article states, but they should have explained more in how they got their predicted results.
