slices of autumn

Okay, so....Iowa in August is generally hot and so humid that you feel like you're in a steam room. The pressure bears down on your chest until you have to focus on taking full breaths. Temps reach the 100 F mark and then the humidity pushes up the heat index to 110-115 F. This is the month I usually retreat into my house and only come out when I absolutely have to. However, today is definitely NOT normal. It's nearly 1:00 pm in the afternoon, and the temp has finally risen to 60 F. 60! It's beautiful! It's like Mother Nature decided to send us a slice of October. Now if only I had a lawn swing....I could relax outside and enjoy my flowers.
