boundaries...[Soapbox #2]
Okay, I apologize but I feel the need to lecture on my soapbox again.... People need to respect boundaries. Everyone has to live their own lives, make their own choices, and live with any consequences that arise out of those choices. Forcing your judgment on someone else would be considered oppression. If one of my friends or family members were to come to me and say that I couldn't do something or date someone simply because they think it's not the right choice for me, well too bad. It's my life, deal with it. If they were to deliberately try to sabotage something going on in my life, my fury would not be pretty. I love my friends and family, but NO ONE has the right to interfere in my life that way. I'm writing this because a dear friend of mine is in a relationship where the significant other's friends are trying their best to sabotage the relationship before it can reach its natural ending. Apparently the significant other is letting it happen because the main saboteur is their best friend. Now that's a load of crap. If my best friend were to do that, her ears would be burning with the strength of my lecture. Now, if she would like to express her concerns to me in a respectful, considerate manner, I would listen and then discuss why she has these concerns before making my own decision. As my best friend, I would hope that she accepts my decisions even though she might disagree. If my decision did end up being wrong, then I would expect my best friend to be there for me to cry on without having to hear any "I told you so's".
Brief but to the point. I feel much better now. ;)

Hey, I know I am one of those friends (I hope!) slow to reciprocate but I always get to it eventually. You sent me your blogging link probably a week or two ago and I just got to it today and read through some of September. Excellent! You know that I write a daily journal and have always wanted to do this but haven't got around yet. Your blog is a model of what I want mine to be. Having gone to school together, your entries bring back many fond memories. I can't wait to read back further and see if I am mentioned anywhere. Keep it up and I'll talk to you soon.
