The Day After Tomorrow

I decided after working all weekend on the house, that I would take last night off of any kind of "work" activities. So I curled up on my loveseat, snuggled up under a blanket, and watched The Day After Tomorrow. Now, I've heard that others didn't really care for the movie, but I liked it! I think that's due to my being able to follow along with the climate theories. I took an environmental archaeology class in college and thought that was pretty darn interesting too. Besides, I like those movies where Mother Nature balances the scales by showing her fury - Dante's Peak, Volcano, Twister, Avalanche, and now The Day After Tomorrow. I admit, there were a few times I had to cover my eyes and peek through my fingers, especially when the wall of water hit New York. When I wasn't peeking through fingers, I was chanting "run! run! run!". The twisters in Los Angeles were very creepy. I dream about twisters frequently so that one wasn't quite as scary. Still, I found myself yelling at the characters in the movie, "Stop gawking! That churning twisting mass that you are photographing is coming right at you! Ooops! Too late! You're toast!" The worst part though, was in New York AFTER the water froze. I had forgotten about a small clip in the movie where four wolves escaped the zoo. If you want to watch me squirm, jump, and make startled eeks and yelps, well...snarling predators with fangs (ok, they were teeth, but work with me here) will do the job. I tend to sink down into my chair and cover my face with the nearest pillow. Last night it was the blanket-over-the-head method. LOL After the movie, I went back to scene selection and watched the wolves scenes again. I didn't cover my head the 2nd time but I was flinching and yelling "run!" LOL I'll probably be buying this one.

What a coincidence. I watched The Day After Tomorrow on Sunday and thought it was pretty good for the same reasons as you. I love it when mother nature kicks ass. I love the scenes where the reporters reporting out in the middle of everything get taken out by flying siding, rolling buses, etc.

However, the only covering my eyes will be tonight at I await the final results from the election. That scares me more than anything these days.
