I'm surprised. I got a LOT accomplished today. First, I finished an embroidery piece that I've been working on for the past year (easy to work on while watching TV). I almost had it done last night while watching Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, but couldn't stay awake a minute longer. Then, I finished removing all of the metal strip shelving from one of my desk area walls, and sanded it (it's paneling) so the primer would stick better. Then I took a break from sanding to cook some lunch (really cooked, too) and make a lamp from a vintage tin. I need to buy a shade for it. Then it was back to the desk area to prime the wall I had sanded earlier. That took about 3 hours for the one wall. The bad thing about painting paneling is that you have to first paint the grooves with a brush, then you can use a roller on the rest. By the time I had finished rolling, I was getting a headache from the primer fumes. I called it quits. I'll start sanding on another wall tomorrow night. Maybe I'll have it all finished by the end of the week. (ha haha...too funny) Ok, maybe next week. I'll have to stop and buy the paint color tomorrow night after work (yellow). I'll be glad to get this room done. I hope to refinish the wood floor sometime next spring, but that is still a ways off. After I finish the desk area, I'll have to work on the stairwell. I had painted it a very royal blue color but I'm going to change it to yellow as well. THAT will be quite a job. Two coats of primer maybe?? Yikes (and stinky).
But, back to what I finished today. After yacking to my sister and mother for an hour earlier, I sewed a bunch of pillows from scraps of fuzzy brown cow-print fabric. I know, I know...you're asking "Why?" For many years I and my roomies had a very broken down couch..one of those wooden frames with cushions. It had a matching coffee table with two cushions on either side of middle table section. Well, it was BUTT UGLY and had gone through several metamorphisis during it's lifetime with us. I inherited it when one of my former roomies moved to Phoenix (no, not Becky, although I'm sure she remembers the couch). So, I painted the frame chocolate brown, recovered the couch cushions with a beige linen type of fabric and then recovered the coffee table cushions with the fuzzy cow-print. My new roomie, Jennifer (aka Jennifer-Bob), and I dubbed it "Bessie" since that seemed like a good cow name. When I moved into my house, I left them on there for awhile but was tired of my backside going numb while sitting on it (we attempted to fix the "sagginess" by putting in a plywood seat base - not good for the tush) so I put it out last year for fall cleanup. It was gone within 24 hours so I'm sure some hunter is getting a numb backside in his rustic hunting cabin somewhere around here. I kept scraps of the fabric for sentimentality with the intention of making a pillow or something but, as with many of projects, it was set aside for awhile.
I'm feeling pretty good about today. I completed two unfinished projects, stopped procrastinating on starting one, and got bit by the creativity bug to create the fourth. Not too bad!
I even took pictures (sorry, I forgot to use the flash on a few).
