Gidget the Toolwoman Taylor...
I love it when I can accomplish a task that others would shy away from. What did I accomplish?? I rewired the first floor of my house for telephone jacks today. It only took a few hours. At first I thought I could simply reroute the existing line, but then I cracked open the old jack and cringed. Nope....need new wire. It's a good thing I had purchased a spool of it when I bought the new jacks! Surprisingly, the easiest part was replacing the line in the telephone box on the back of the house! Between that, running the new line into the basement, and stapling it up to the rafters, I was ready to connect to the new jack location within an hour. I then spent the next hour struggling with the actual modular jack, trying not to curse at it!! Of course, I'll have to open it back up again when I paint the wall behind the computer. I figured it would be pretty silly to attach it to the wall when I'd be unattaching it next week anyway!!

Ah..... the joys of home ownership. I haven't tackled the phone project yet but someday it is coming along with general rewiring projects of the house. I can't believe there is not an electrical outlet in the hallway. Who doesn't think to put one there? Also, my utility room looks like a giant electrical bird decided to make a nest of electrical wiring there. Geesh!
