I'm so evil...
Okay, so update on the U.O. in the office and the Case of the Mysterious Whooping Cough...
She returned to work on Monday, coughing & hacking all the way in the door, no mouth covering going on. I wanted to hold my breath until the wave of germs passed, but she took too long to waddle through the door and to her desk, where she then commenced to have a violent coughing fit, again no covering of the mouth.
Yesterday (Tuesday) she came in and stopped at my desk, mumbling. I looked up and nearly cracked up. Her lips were swollen to twice their normal size. I didn't laugh though cuz she sounded like she was about to cry. She says to me, "My lips are swollen and they hurt really bad." May the spirits forgive me, but all I could think about was the movie First Wives Club where Goldie Hawn's character gets collagen injected into her lips and she arrives at the funeral of her friend with huge, swollen lips. The U.O. couldn't close her mouth because hers was so swollen. She couldn't chew food and "gummed" her doughnut. I didn't feel safe in making the collagen comment until the end of the day when I had control of myself. Plus, the U.O. was in a better frame of mind by then. I suggested that she might want to see her doctor. She has to be having an allergic reaction to something and not getting it taken care of is harmful to her unborn child (in my opinion).
Meanwhile, it's now hump day (hooray!) and there is continued coughing, hacking and swelling going on today. I'll have to make sure the devil on my shoulder is behaving because the minions could easily get out of control this afternoon. I should feel bad about it because if the situation was reversed I wouldn't find it that funny (well, not at first, but I'd be laughing at myself before too long), but darn it, she digs her own grave with each inconsiderate and unwise action so what else can she expect??
