New Year's Resolution

The greatest thing about the holidays, aside from the extra days off of work, is all of the scrumptious food that we allow ourselves to feast on endlessly. Yet the worst thing about the holidays is all of the scrumptious food you feasted on endlessly. I always find my clothes are a little tighter following X-mas. My mother always jokes that we've been "too long at the trough". lol

Researchers say that the majority of people in the United States list losing weight as their #1 New Year's Resolution. I've never listed "losing weight". Instead, I try to camoflauge mine as "eating healthier" or "exercising more" or even just "making better lifestyle choices". Last year I did none of these because I knew I wouldn't follow-through on it. I'm the Queen of Procrastination and if something requires my effort that does not have immediate results, I tend to put it off until I have no other choice. Instead, last year I vowed to keep better track of my mileage for tax purposes. With volunteer work and doctor appointments, I needed an accurate mileage count for my tax records but always had to guess. I'm proud to say that I've upheld that resolution. While it's great to have that record for my taxes, it really opened my eyes to how often I drive to work when it's not required. Now, before you get all confused, I pay a monthly fee to ride a carpool provided by my employers so I would only need to drive to the meeting location half a mile from my house. My problem was waking up early enough to catch the van before it left. All it requires is getting up at least 15 minutes earlier. Now too hard right? Yeah, right....you're talking to an official night owl.

So, what is my point? I guess you could say my point is this. I need to work on my health habits as I know they're getting worse, but I hesitate to make that my resolution. I also need to ride the carpool more often to reduce my miles and gas costs. Dare I make TWO resolutions? Hmmm....I have until tomorrow night to decide.
