Under the needle...

Yes, I did it. The mission to which I've been referring so mysteriously for the past two weeks has been successful. I got my nose pierced Friday after work. Yes, it hurt, but not a lot. More of a pinch, although pulling the needle out hurt worse than the actual piercing. I knew the pain wouldn't be over because there would be swelling, but that's okay. Unlike when I tried to get a cartilage piercing in my upper ear, I won't be sleeping on my nose...and so it shouldn't get infected or be too sore. ;)

I could have gotten it done several weeks ago, but the very reputable store recommended to me only had hoops in stock. Because I work in an administrative office, I wanted something more subtle and decided to wait for them to get in more nostril screws. I ended up going back four different times in those two weeks only to receive the same song and dance each time -- "the supplies aren't in yet". *sigh* The owner was also a bit rude....so, in extreme annoyance, I finally called the only other tattoo/piercing parlor that I knew of in town and went there to get the piercing. (I also saw a tattoo I really like, but that's an adventure for another day. And one to save up for.)

Now, in the aftermath of the piercing, the ache subsides a little more each day. At least today I could use a Kleenex without flinching too much. Thus far, the reactions I've received are: "That isn't too bad" - from my mother; "Soni! Did it hurt?" -- from my brother's girlfriend; "I like it!" - from my sister; and no comment from my father or brother. LOL I'm looking forward to the reactions of my coworkers tomorrow.

I was joking with the piercer that some might think this is a turning-30 crisis (because I'll be 30 in a few weeks), but that's not true. I've always wanted to get my nose pierced, but didn't have the courage to do it. Of course, the piercer said I could be really ornery and reply to any horrified reactions with the following: "Oh...you think this is bad? Hmm, well, it's a good thing I'm dressed then!" muhahahahhahah

Fortunately my office doesn't have a written dress code!! One of our subdivisions has a dress code for the medical students which simply says that anything is allowed as long as patients or staff do not find it to be offensive or a racial slur. They included tattoos and piercings in this list so I figure I'm okay!
