I had to work late to finish up some paperwork for bill payments and so didn't get home tolaod up the truck until nearly 7:00 pm. It was yet another 1.5 hours before I was ready to go - having gotten Maia's food, water & litter box prepared for my 10-day absence. Fortunately Larry & Janie, my neighbors, agreed to check on Maia for me every few days, while Mom & Dad watch Sadie for me. Finally at 8:30 pm I was in the truck and headed for Des Moines. I had called earlier in the evening to make sure I was guaranteed for late arrival, but I didn't want to be too late. I knew I'd have to be up early the next morning and I needed the sleep! It was a very long drive in my tired state, but I made it and was in bed - asleep - by 11:30 pm.
