Update on the U.O.

For those of you waiting with bated breath, I have updates on the U.O. (the Unprofessional One in my office). Prior to my leaving for Phoenix, this individual had called in sick, so I had two days of peace and quiet at work before flying out for the southwest. When I returned, she also called in sick and since she finally had her baby last week, I don't have to see her until she returns from maternity leave. Yes! What a wonderful addendum to my vacation!

But, get this...they named their daughter after a storybook character...Clifford to be exact. No, no...they didn't name her Clifford...they named her Emilee Elizabeth, which is Clifford's owner. Poor kid...not only does she have a non-traditional spelling of her name, she's named after a children's book. Considering the environment she'll grow up in (they're always sick and on medication for something or other), I foresee therapy in that child's future. We're placing wagers on how often the U.O. will actually make it to work after maternity leave is over. She doesn't have childcare for the baby...and can't take her to dayschool until she's six months old. I can already hear her whining about her "situation". She's really good at manipulation and brown-nosing to obtain sympathy.

I tell you one thing. She is one person I will definitely NOT miss when I leave.

I remember reading how you got your name a while back but can't seem to find it. Anyway, I heard that the original Gidget, Sandra Dee, has passed away. Thought you might want to know if you hadn't heard.
