What to do next...

Now that I've been to Phoenix and gotten a sense of the area, I have to admit that I really like it. I love the sculptured walls along the freeways. I love the palm trees and the feeling of openness that permeates the city. It doesn't feel like a huge city...well, at least it doesn't until you try to drive somewhere. I love the stucco architecture and the flowering bushes. I'd have to have lots of plants in my home to help me feel connected to nature, but that's not difficult to accomplish.

There are some places I didn't get to see, but that's okay. Trips to Sedona and etc can be done another time. What I'll need to focus on during my next visit (yes, I hope to visit again in early summer, but for a much shorter time period) includes museums, the universities, and other cultural interests that are related to my academic field (anthropology/archaeology). I haven't fully thought it out yet, but thankfully I have some time to work on that.

I've already started a list of potential employers and will be monitoring positions offered by them over the next six months. I've began arrangements to room with a friend, so I think I'm off to a good start. Now if only my house renovations go as smoothly. (Keep your fingers crossed.)

I sure have a lot to do....

I stayed in a mountain right outside of Sedona for a week once. It was a beautiful place. I did lots of "mountain" climbing. I just couldn't get enough of sticking to all that red rock like spiderman. Other places down there that I really enjoyed were the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest although it was a little touristy. Also Monument Valley and Montezuma's Cliff Dwellings. There really is a lot to see in that neck of the woods and if you are interested in Indians and archeology (and I know you are) there is a ton of things to see of the ancient anasazi.

I just thought of something else to tell you. You picked a dandy of a weekend to come home. It is mid 40's today, supposed to be around 50 on Saturday and Sunday and mid 40's again on Monday. Iowa weather is going to go easy on you.
