A Pretty Irish Girl

Okay, so it's St. Patricks' Day and everyone has been in the Irish mood. We started off our day with a sea of green and a rollickin' good time singin some Irish tunes. Okay, so they only had us singing "Too-lah-roo-lah-rah" during the All Staff Mtg this morning...I didn't know the song so I only listened but my mind continued on that track until I couldn't get one of my favorite "ditties" out of my mind.

Have you ever watched Darby O'Gill and the Little People? It's one of my favorite Disney movies and in it is a young Sean Connery (also a favorite - in all his films). At one point he's slinging hay around with a pitch fork and singing "A Pretty Irish Girl". It's a very catchy tune and I've always wanted to learn the entire thing. For several years I've tried finding the lyrics, but got nowhere. Finally, today, I was determined to figure out where I could either get a copy of the entire song, or the lyrics. What I ended up with was one, single source of obtaining the song -- a 45 LP. Sad, I know, but I bought it anyway. Now I just need a record player....
