Productivity...
I bit the bullet and mowed the lawn last night. It didn't seem that tall to me, but since it had been a month from the last cut, I thought I might as well get it done. Also, with the recent rains, I knew it would be growing faster. After the first swath around the yard I admitted to myself that I had been in denial. The grass was actually taller than I thought and I had to slow down considerably for the mower to handle the quantity over much of the yard. Oops. lol After finishing the yard, I was still feeling energetic enough to tackle more, so I pulled out a rake and cleaned up the compost pile, preparing it for the addition of autumn leaves. Because it didn't take long I decided to tackle even more, and let the dogs out to play in the yard while I raked up the rows of grass cuttings to add to the compost pile. I had to laugh. My yard looked like a hay field in preparation to be baled. I had stripes of grass extending from the back of the property up to the house. I raked up a little bit while laughing at the antics of the pup, whom I've started calling Molly. Her little white legs were tinted green from the belly down. She was having a ball jumping into the piles of grass that I was raking. We didn't stay out long since it was getting dark but I have to admit it was nice to be outside for a change. I've been spending too much time on the computer lately. Of course, with classes beginning today, I'll still be on the computer constantly but...oh well. It's worth it for now.

One of these days they are going to perfect grass that only grows between five and six inches tall, never heads out, and stays green in even the dryest conditions. I'll be the first in line when they do.
