The U.O. bites the dust...in a round-about way...
So, I've delayed giving the U.O. update lately because there's just too much drama associated with that one. However my faithful and oh-so-attentive fans, the blogs about the U.O. are on a countdown scale because...you guessed it...she got a new job. Yes! The chorus is singing, flowers are blooming, and my evil-partner-in-crime Mrs. T and I have been wondering what we're gonna do when there's no more U.O. around to infuriate us. I dared suggest we might have to focus on positive things...we both stopped and considered that idea for a moment before agreeing that we couldn't imagine such a life. We'll just have to wait for that day where we face an empty desk and ponder life's meaning in the workplace. ;) We were going to dress up like witches for Halloween so we could cackle out loud, but now we may not have to. It wouldn't be as much fun with the U.O. gone. That's okay though. I hadn't yet purchased anything for the costume anyway.
The news of the U.O.'s imminent departure followed yet more drama though. She had dressed up in her Sunday finest (everyone was asking if she had interviews - they always do when you dress better than normal) for what she said was "time for something different". Ha! She did have an interview that day. BUT, she also had an appointment with the institutions main HR reps regarding filing a grievance against the college for unfair treatment. I KNEW she was up to something...that's why she was tracking everyone's time. I did take the evidence in to my supervisor like I said I would do. She was not happy about the situation but I calmly stated that we, the other staff, just wanted her to know that the times listed were inaccurate and based on the U.O.'s perception of when people arrive, depart, take lunch, etc. I pointed out specific examples where she was wrong, which my supervisor corroborated. I stated that we felt it was important she know about the inaccuracies in case the U.O. tried to use it as documentation. My supervisor thanked me for the information (genuinely, I might add) but stated she didn't know if anything would come of it. I replied that the U.O. is always very quick to turn to her attorney or etc when facing something like this. My supervisor agreed. Needless to say, the next day we learned of the grievance. Yep...I called it!
What really gets us though is that her new job is a promotion in title...a "professional" position within the institution versus the merit position she had held. She doesn't deserve a promotion, but....I'll swallow that one if it gets her out of the office. Mrs. T was furious. She wanted to see the U.O. "taken down 26 notches" and "totally devasted after being fired". I told her at least there was an end in sight and that she's no longer our problem to deal with. Now, I'm not quite that bloodthirsty. I would like to see the U.O. held responsible for the crap she's pulled but I'll be satisfied with not having to interact with her anymore. It'll be interesting how long her new employer suffers her chronic absences & tardies. They opted not to review her formal employee file....the fools.

Once again, more proof for my Seinfeld/Simpson theory. In a Seinfeld episode, Elaine asks for a co-worker to get promoted just so that she can get him away from her.
Congratulations!
