A good deed...

I spent some time last weekend with my friend Sheri. We were just chatting away, not watching the time and looking at all of her wedding decorations (less than two weeks away). As always happens when I go over to her place, her pets think they all need to be in my lap at the same time. They're so cute it's hard to deny them! Sheri & Ben have a mini terrier (rat terrier?) called Pebbles who cracks me up! She reminds of my little darling Sadie, just in a smaller package. However, they have a new indoor cat that I'd never seen before and I quite fell in love with him. He'd had a hard life for a cat so young and is very fortunate to have found such a good home! The poor little tyke (I can't recall his name) had been abandoned in a larger town where Ben worked and on a daily basis Ben saw the little guy struggling to live. At some point, the cat had become injured and the gangrene that set in his leg would have taken his life had Ben's family not intervened. Between Ben's father and a kind-hearted veterinarian's care, the leg, tail and a portion of one ear had to be amputated. Ben brought him home to recuperate and he's become a part of their family. Although slightly cross-eyed, he gets around pretty well on just three legs and is quite the Don Juan of the household! At one point I had stopped petting him while distracted in conversation and he lightly bit me as if to say "Excuse me! You may continue to worship me now!"

It's always nice to see the generosity people are capable of when most would have accepted an injured cat's fate and left him to die.
