A month for babies...
I've spent some time visiting friends with babies this month (with several more to schedule in next month). A friend from high school, Sheri, had a little boy last August. I had seen him last September but then not again until a few weeks ago. That little stinker sure had grown!! Only six months and he's up to 22 pounds! Yikes! He's such a happy guy though and has amazing body strength for his age. He'll be walking within a few months, I can guarantee you. I was astonished at how well he could sit playing, then twist to reach something, pulling it to him for a taste, all without toppling over. I think Sheri has a future football player on her hands!
I also saw Zander about a week ago. He's also grown a lot (developmentally, not so much physically), is making lots of babbling noise, and trying to stand. He can sit as long as he doesn't turn his torso but, being the ornery guy he is, he prefers not to. I tried to get him to sit with me for awhile but he went into stiff baby mode, straightening his body and refusing to bend in the middle. He's learned that he can scoot his butt to a new position and then slide his torso afterwards in order to move around. Hopefully it's just a phase as he continues to learn mobility... I had to laugh when we went for a walk with him in his all-terrain stroller, making him swiftly fall asleep. I told Becky it was almost as good as a car ride! My favorite part of the visit was when I walked in, said "hi" and he immediately started doing raspberries, involving not only his tongue but his lips too, creating a spit fest. It was hysterical! I imitated him which kinda made him pause and stare for a bit before smiling and blowing another raspberry. Little stinker. :) It's hard to believe he'll be a year old next month!
Yet to be scheduled is a spring visit to the Abbey's homestead and a visit to my cousin to see my recently arrived 2nd cousin, Dylan.

Yesterday I sat Little Abbey on her blanket and went up stairs to change. Three minutes later when I got back, she was fifteen feet away and trying to crawl up the steps after me. Yikes!
