A Bronze Age eyeball...
I just had to comment about this. Apparently archaeologists have uncovered evidence of an artificial eyeball from the Bronze Age. It's even carved with a pupil and capillaries.
My first thought was "cool!" My second was "That's so unsanitary!"
You have to wonder if this was placed in the skull after death as part of some ceremony or if they actually inserted a fake eyeball into a live person's orbital cavity. Hello infection!!

What was the eyeball made of? I assume they could have sterilized it just as well as a modern day eyeball with some boiling water. I think seeing that in someone's socket would be more creepy than just seeing the empty socket.
