911 Noah...

The slogan in my hometown area during the 1993 flood was "911 Noah". It's been 15 years since the last major flood and now we're revisiting that adventure with The Flood of 2008. Where is Noah and his ark when you need him?

So, I was browsing some photos on the Iowa City Press Citizen website and found one that had me cracking up with laughter. Even when you're faced with the destructive elements of flood waters to your home, some Iowans can't help but maintain their humor. Thank goodness for that! I love the ducks in this image...

So the Corps of Engineers are predicting (as of right now) that flood waters will be higher than they were in 1993. Reports from relatives and friends indicate that 250 miles of roadways by the Mississippi River have been closed due to flooding and peak flood levels likely won't occur for another week. My parents, who live along the Des Moines River in southeastern Iowa, are looking at a potential evacuation on Monday.

And here the Department of Natural Resources were declaring that this summer would have a bad drought.... Joke's on you!

Oh but you forget, this is Iowa. It will probably by cracklin dry by mid July so not only were the farmers late in planting crops, what little they got in can't grow.
