Van Helsing...

I was bad last night.  I was supposed to finish painting my closet doors, but I didn't.  Instead, I bought the Van Helsing movie and watched Hugh Jackman kick monster butt.  I have to say, I was a little nervous during the first 10 minutes of the movie.  It wasn't very good acting and I thought surely the character Van Helsing must be watching a B-rated horror movie, but alas....I discovered it was the story.  It did get a little better, but some of the computer-drawn characters (i.e. Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde) seemed too fake.  Now, I know that computer-drawn characters aren't supposed to be "real" but I expect them to be real enough that I can get into the story without obsessing on the fact that it IS a computer-drawn character.  It's similar to watching a movie where an actress has obviously had some bust enhancement and all you can think is "those are not real!"  So, you can understand my initial disappointment with the Van Helsing movie.  I wouldn't say that the movie was the best I've ever seen.  X-men was much better.  BUT, I will say that the way vampires were represented in the movie was some of the best I've ever seen.  They were also presented in a form that I've never seen used before.  By the end of the movie was fully into the story.  Overall, the beginning sucked, the ending could have been improved, and it wasn't very scary.  (Jurassic Park was much scarier.)  However the way they portrayed vampires and werewolves was pretty cool and I liked the story of how Dracula came to be.  It, also, was a different version than I've seen before.  I'd still recommend watching it, just don't expect an award-winning film.  Of course, the saleslady told me she watched it just to see Hugh Jackman rip his clothes off.  LOL
