Idiots on the road.....[Soapbox #3]
I live about 40 minutes (by interstate) from work. This morning, as I was waiting to cross the southbound lanes in order to turn onto the northbound lanes, I noticed the car in front me turned prematurely and cut off an ambulance -- with it's lights on, heading to the hospital. IDIOT!
I had to wait for the unusually heavy traffic to pass before I could continue. When I did finally turn onto the interstate, a car behind me started to pass on my left. This is fine. The car started to edge over the lane markings. This was not fine. About the time I was going to press the horn, the car sped up. Again, it edged over the lane markings but also slowed down. As we approached a line of semi's, it sped up, slowed down, and yet again edged over the lane markings. I was ready to honk just to wake up the driver because this person was apparently unfit to be driving! I started slowing down, not wanting to get caught in an accident when the car ran into the semi, which was I thought was going to happen. The driver started paying attention again and corrected their driving, but this pattern continued for another five miles. There at the end, it looked like the driver's head was turned toward the passenger seat. I've heard about people who work on their laptops while driving. I've never seen it before but I'm thinking that's what this person was doing. IDIOT!
You know, you share the road with a lot of other people. I would very much prefer to arrive at my destination intact, without injury and without a fender bender. PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU DRIVE!
