All kinds of stupid
There are times when I wonder why I'm allowed to manage a checkbook. It's still January and I can still make New Year's resolutions, right? Well, I'm going to make a resolution to reconcile my checkbook every month. Not that this would have prevented my current problem, but generally I don't reconcile my checkbook for four to five months at a time. Now, I've always considered myself to be pretty good at tracking my expenditures, but I do miss one here and there - not too big of a deal. What gets me is when I add and subtract incorrectly and suddenly my nice, rosy checkbook balance turns into.....a not very good situation. I apparently lost my ability to add and subtract during the months of December to mid-January. I was off by $150 and what I thought was a very good balance for approaching the end of the month turned into the necessity of transferring funds from my savings account. I swore to myself that I wasn't going to touch my savings this month because I need to save up for property taxes due in March. GRRRRRRRRR!
