"I'm no spring chicken..."

That's been a frequent phrase in our office lately. It seems many of the secretaries have jumped on the "have to lose weight" bandwagon. I told them my plans to join a gym again after taking a hiatus for six years. My coworker Marie said "how old are you again?" I said "30." So she says "Yep, you're no spring chicken either!" Great, thanks... lol However, there is a difference between my reasons to go to the gym and their reasons to diet. They want to lose weight. I want to get into shape. Losing weight will just be a nice side bonus! ;) I used to have muscle definition...I used to have endurance...now I hope to have it again. I signed up my membership yesterday afternoon, got my swipe card and will be all prepared for when I return from my FABULOUS vacation in Phoenix in a few weeks. Of course, the owner was trying to get me to sign up for the cardio kick-boxing class. He said it "kicks butt". (weak laughter here...bad pun) I said that was a little out of my range at the moment. But he did suggest that I forego weight work for awhile. He said it's more important to work on cardio at first and build up the endurance. So I guess I'll have that endurance before muscle definition, but that's okay. I have plenty of renovation projects lined up for the spring and summer so I'll have lots of opportunities to tone my muscles without heaving weights. ;)
