Organizing Junkie

I am always on the lookout for better ways to organize the chaotic areas of my life. At work, I have to juggle many responsibilities and often feel like I'm in the middle of a whirlwind with the amount of demands that come my way. Because the University offers online staff development, I've been taking online short courses (usually 2 hours each) on organization and time management. I've found most of these courses to be frustrating because they endorse systems that I've already tried and which do not work for me. So, I turned to our book lists. Through the online development site we have access to a source called Books 24/7. These are real books that are scanned into an electronic book system. I found one called Organizing Your Workspace: A Guide to Personal Productivity, Revised Edition by Odette Pollar and settled in to read the book over the course of several months. Immediately from the first chapter I discovered that this book recommended different systems than other things I'd read. I spent a portion of yesterday afternoon reorganizing my desktop to better improve the flow of paperwork, then did some more reading. I finished the last two chapters this morning and I have to say that this is the best book I've ever read regarding organizing. Practical, achievable methods is the way to go! Now, I just need to apply what I've learned and begin the organizing of everything else!

Just wanted to say that I ran into a classmate of yours today at lunch. (Lindy S. though now is Lindy T.) As she was walking by with one kid in her arms and two following, I told her she had quite the crew. She was just giving me a generic response when she finally recognized me and asked if I was who she thought I was. I guess thirteen years has a way of doing that. I don't know if I would have recognized her had her husband, whom I have known for a year and found out that he had married her, not been sitting there behind me. I don't know if you still keep in touch but I thought you might want to know.
