And another one bites the dust...
Mikey isn't the only one with computer woes. Last week I spent some time burning all of my personal correspondence, music and photos to disc before upgrading my operating system. BIG MISTAKE. Even though I had downloaded new drivers for my hardware components, they did not work to make the new operating system and the hardware compatible. So, I have a fuzzy picture on the monitor, lack of color so I can't view any photos, and a network interface card (NIC) that won't work...hence no internet...hence my having to drive 40 min to my work in order to do my internet quiz, play runescape and blog. I ordered a new computer on Friday but it won't ship until Sept. 1. I could have just purchased a new monitor, new NIC and all the other things that don't work, but it was adding up to about the same cost for a new computer so I said "why not?" I'll donate my old machine and get a little bit of $$ out of it for taxes. *sigh* More debt. Ick.

Welcome to the world of XP I presume. It took me hours of phone calls, days of reinstallation and a purchase of a replacement scanner to get back up and running after switching to XP.
Argh...the thought is making me feel ill. I'm hoping this XP Professional will work with my existing hardware. It should, since my scanner and camera are new within one year. *crosses fingers*
My scanner was made in Germany and while most of my other hardware devices had new drivers to work with XP, the German scanner manufacturers said they didn't have one nor would they design one. Hang in there.
