CNN.com - Google agrees toChina censorship - Jan 24, 2006

Okay, so according to the CNN poll, the majority of readers do not believe Google should conform to China's restrictions on free-speech. However, I think it's important to remember that if you're hoping to expand into a foreign country's market, you should probably follow their laws or you're going to be unsuccessful. I also believe in not forcing my beliefs onto others, especially when there's a cultural and/or nationality difference. Please...it's China, not the U.S.... We're on their playground children, therefore it's their rules.

I'm in agreement with you here. I just hate it when we try to impress our beliefs on others assuming they are the best or will work the best. I wouldn't want to be restricted in my internet searching but if the Chinese want this freedom, they need to fight for it, not us. Likewise, if the Iraqis want their freedom, they should have fought for it and not us. If they wanted a democracy, they should have fought for it and not us. When are we going to stop being a global enforcer of our beliefs and values?
