The Mighty Beast and the Lightbulb...

The young adventurer goes forth to fight the mighty beast, armed to the teeth with powerful-healing food, and wicked potions intended to boost her combat abilities. She is young, strong, and prepared for a battle, and, while the haunting melody of the Darth Vader theme song drifts through her head, she steadily walks toward this moment in history, this battle until near death (at which point she would teleport out of danger to fight again another day)...

Yeah. So I had a friend online tonight while playing runescape and I was all pumped up to fight this powerful monster. My combat level is 64 while the monster's was 111. That's a significant difference! I fully expected to have to employ a strategic retreat. Imagine my complete disappointment as I approached the target, my pack full of 17 sharks (very powerful stuff), 2 prayer potions, 2 strength potions, 3 attack potions and 1 defence potion, prepared to eat shark to maintain my lifeforce (of about 52 hitpoints) long enough to kill the monster and save the Queen when....thhhpppffff! I barely sustained 15 hitpoints in damage, didn't have to eat a single shark and only took one swig of two potions before the beast was dead. What kind of battle was that? Who gave this thing a lvl 111 rating?? If I had to compare the feeling to something, it would be a pumped up hockey fan rushing into the ice arena to watch some wall-bashing only to see Disney's World on Ice taking place. Truly, it was dumbfounding. Anyhow, I'm relieved I didn't have to consume any of my precious shark inventory, but what a let-down!

Anyhoo, I was also exploring more of the new manual and FINALLY found some pertinent information about combination runes to make me consider making them a worthwhile venture. The former manual explained how to make them, but not what they're used for! So, at that time, I decided I wasn't going to make anymore until I knew how to use them. Why waste resources? The production process destroys one of the elemental talismen and the binding necklace so you have to REALLY want these things. So what did I find out? A combination rune takes the place of two runes. For example, if you wanted to cast water strike, you'd need three runes: water, air & mind. Using the combination rune Mist takes the place of the water & air runes. You use less inventory for the same magic strike. However, my question is this....is the price of making them (destruction of a talisman & binding necklace) worth saving a space in your pack? Also, at higher runecrafting levels, you can usually make more than one rune per raw essence in your pack. BUT with combo runes, you get a 1:1 ratio of combo runes. I have to really question this!

Well, enough about runescape. It's time for bed. lol

I have enough trouble keeping my world straight. I can't even begin to imagine how you can keep two of them straight without getting confused. Do you ever try to make a potion while at work to defend against an attacking coworker?

No, but I have a crystal rock that I wave around (usually just for humor) to dispel negative energy.

I admit that it's hard now to remember how to get to certain cities within the game. A guide will say "Go to Zanaris and speak to the Fairy Godmother" and I'll have to sit there for a moment and try to recall where Zanaris is and "how do I get there again?"
