One last thing...
I nearly forgot a piece of humor. Every Iowan worth his/her salt knows that the annual battle between the Iowa State Cyclones and the Iowa Hawkeyes (University of Iowa) is occurring this Saturday...that's right in, count them, 2 days, give or take a few hours. The Cy-Hawk game is one of the most well attended, discussed, debated, and argumented game of the year...why? Interstate rivalry at its most ferocious. LOL You gotta love the fighting spirit that infects the state at this time of year...
Anyhow, apparently we have celebrities visiting the state who are a bit bemused by our, um, sport fervor. ABC's show Extreme Makeover is not too far from my humble abode building a home for a deserving family and the contractors hired to do the work have given themselves a deadline far different than that imposed by the show. Oh yes, you guessed it. The contractors are working 24/7 to finish by 11:05 a.m. Saturday...kick-off time... The producers are bringing in 3 big screens for setting up in a nearby field in order for the contractors to watch the battle. Now isn't that nice of them?
Although not a devoted fan, I have seen a few episodes and it seems the contractors are always running behind schedule. I can only imagine the commentary among the designers and Mr. Ty Pennington regarding the weird contractors in Iowa who just HAVE to watch the Cy-Hawk game. LOL I really don't want to miss that episode when it does air!
I already had plans to visit Zander & family with some other members of MY family, but my mother's sudden affliction of rampant poison ivy (or oak, sumac, etc) might cancel that trip. All I can say is that IF we don't end up going visiting, I'll be planted in front of the boob tube singing the school song and yelling at the game calls just like every other red-blooded Iowan.
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Let every loyal Iowan sing;
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the walls and rafters ring (GO HAWKS!)
Come on and cheer, cheer, cheer for IOWA,
Come on and cheer until you hear the final gun.
The word is "Fight! Fight! Fight! for IOWA,"
Until the game is won.
(only slightly modified from it's original version)
Ahem, in case you missed the obvious...GO HAWKS!
