To Wii or not to Wii...

Okay, I confess I'm lusting after a Nintendo Wii. I wouldn't have paid much attention to them if it hadn't been pointed out to me by a friend but....oh well. The damage is done... I'd get one but there's this slight problem with the sticker price. I just can't make myself pay $400 for a game. One could hope that the price would drop over time, but we know from looking at the marketing of the Xbox that even the older platform is still selling at $200 -- and that took several years to reach! I could get just the basic hardware system, which would be around $250...after all, I don't like sports games anyway and the sports bundle is what gives it the $400 tag. (Just like Scrat on Ice Age 2 -- my vision is filled with images of Zelda...who cares about sports?) However, $250 is still a chunk o' change and the scrooge in me just can't let go of that without justification.

Argh....it's probably a good thing that they're so scarce in the stores right now. According to the article I read today, the Wii's will be scarce for several more months. Maybe I'll overcome my drooling in that time. ;)

I've been pretty interested in the Wii and the PS3 (that one has a price of about $600). My biggest problem isn't the initial price, it's the cost of all the games. I mean, at what about $30, $40, $50, or more per game I'll probably end up buying one or two, playing those two into the ground, and then stuffing the whole damned system in a dark corner somewhere--what a waste! Let's not forget the fact that I don't want to end up glued to video games for all my waking hours--talk about an addiction.

I figured I'd only be buying Legend of Zelda. LOL
