Some new decor...
I've been doing some organizing around the house in the past few months. A new 9-cube piece in the study has become the location of cloth drawers (for supplies) and areas for placement of photo boxes and etc. I've still got some work to do but it'll get done in spurts.
I managed to get through some books for listing on Amazon.com. I've already sold several so that's handy. The ones that don't sell or that won't be worth even listing (too low of a sales price), will be donated to various libraries...the university for my native american literature books and the public libraries for general fiction. I'll probably give to the public library in Iowa City since the local library's collection is mostly religious fiction. Somehow I don't think my taste in sci-fi will be appreciated. I never went back after the last donation of sci-fi books to see if they kept them or put them on the resale shelf. I still have a few more shelves of read books to go through and decide if they're worth rereading or donation but that's a project for another day.
I also hung up several prints. A few I'd had for awhile but had taken them down in previous organization fits (i.e. a bookcase covering the location of a print) and a few I had purchased but didn't yet have framed.
My end goal with all of this to create an open/airy feeling for my living spaces. It'll take time as I'm still trying to define what can be used to create that feeling but at the top of that list is the possibilty of a new entertainment center. I've been using my great-grandmother's hutch (repurposed as a TV cabinet) but the weight of the TV is making the center bow a bit and the drawers and cabinet doors consequently "stick". It can't be good for the hutch and I'm ready for something different now anyway. I'll convert the hutch back into a display case or etc for my glassware and call it a day at that point. ;)
Hope these posts explain some of my long absences from bloggerland!
