Addendum: Grand Canyon news...

Well, apparently the architect drawing of how far the skywalk would jut over the edge of the cliff was rather exaggerated. The "U" end is only 70 feet from the cliff face which looks to be a much safer construction than what I thought it would be. However, I've discovered that National Geographic was incorrect in its reporting of the admission fee to the skywalk. It's not $25. It's $75 per person according to the CNN news report. Outrageous.

I understand the Hualapai Tribe's reasons for constructing the tourist attraction. It seems to be a better option than a casino for gaining money for tribal members (1/3 of the tribe are considered to be living in the povery level and 1/2 are jobless). I also understand that they hope to be able to bring amenities to their community (a grocery store and a gas station were mentioned). BUT, $75??? Don't look at me. I won't pay that.

You may not pay, and I may not pay, but thousands of people each year definitely WILL pay, and that Tribe's gonna make out like bandits. They won't put in a supermarket, they'll put in a shopping mall.
